Guru Petfood

I was kindly contacted by the lovely people at Guru asking if we'd be interested in trying some of their products, I'd seen their brand on Instagram and had read that their food was cold pressed which I'd never tried before so jumped at the chance!

A parcel arrived the following day containing their Surf and Turf food along with a Field Trip bone

One of the first things I noticed was their gorgeous packaging - I absolutely love the colours they use which would instantly grab my attention in a pet shop! It is decorative without being over the top and easy to ready which is super helpful.
It came with a letter addressing all 5 of the dogs (all in chronological order and spelt correctly so kudos for that!!)

The first thing I opened was the Field Trip bone, this is such a clever product which I will most definitely buy again! The bone is the equivalent to one meal for a 4kg dog, this is perfect for me as when we go to shows we often have to get up extremely early so the dogs get fed at the show, the smaller bones come in a pack of 2 for £1.99 which is an absolute bargain and the larger Road Trip bones are the equivalent to one meal for a 10kg dog and retail at £2.50. I've saved ours to test at our next show :-)
The next thing we where sent was a very decent sized sample of their Surf and Turf cold pressed dog food
Anyone that knows me will know that I can spend hours taking about and researching dog foods as I'm incredibly fussy about what the dachshunds can have and Guru only contains high quality ingredients including Beef, Ocean fish, Green Lipped Muscles and fish oil!
The food itself is made up of larger pieces which is good for my two as it means they actually have to chew it rather than inhale it in one go! The food can also be served with warm water to change the texture (there is a helpful video on their webpage explaining how to do this!). One of the things that really stood out to me is the easy use feeding calculator which tells you the amount the dog should be on for its weight, for example Lily and Sev weigh 5kilos each so if they eat Guru alone they would need  60grams. I feed mine raw food as their main meal and due to the way guru is made they are safe to have it alongside the raw so have been having a small sprinkle mixed in which they love!
Overall we think Guru is a fab independent brand with brilliant customer service (they where more than happy to answer my constant flow of questions!) and I would definitely recommend this food! In fact I'm off to go and order some more Field Trip bones ready for the 9th of April!

Teddy Maximus Photoshoot

At Crufts I bought a few bits and bobs from Teddy Maximus and rather than write about it I decided to do a photoshoot :-)
We already have a wish list of what we'd like next! :-)

Yumega Boost Review

On Wednesday Lily was 8 weeks post operation after suffering a second bout of IVDD which resulted in her back being completely shaved, the first time she went through this her coat took months to grow back, so this time I was giving her Yumega Boost along with Yumega Show dog oil daily in her dinner.

We've always used Yumega plus on our dogs but after reading about Boost and Show dog I wanted to try it and record our progress, what makes it special is its made up of various fatty acids such as Biotin which promotes rapid coat grown and ensures good coat condition.
For Lily's size she gets one scoop of boost powder and a small squirt of show dog oil in her pm feed. Due to the fat content I was a little concerned about the potential of Lily gaining weight whilst on crate rest solidly for 4 weeks but it didn't cause her to gain any! (Actually she lost weight!)
A 500ml bottle of Yumega Show Dog oil costs £27.02 and lasts ages! Lily has 2.5mls of it once daily.
A 180scoop tub of Yumega Boost costs £28.00 and lasts Lily 180 days

I've been photographing Lily's coat every few days since being on it and the results are incredible!! Some photos are iPhone quality so aren't fab!
Here was Lily the day we brought her home - 3 days post Op

10 days post op
16 days post op (she had just had her glue removed, hence the inflammation!)
23 days post op
30 days post op
5 weeks post op - you can't visibly tell which scar isn't the 6 month old one!
And then finally yesterday, 8 weeks post op!
As you can see the results are incredible! Not only does she have coat to the point you almost can't see the lines! The coat is soft and incredibly shiney!

Crufts 2016 - The Aftermath!

I'm sure most of you will have seen the photo above that I shared on Twitter last night, we arrived early at the NEC and Isla wasn't due into the ring until 12 so I was left unattended for a couple of hours and needless to say, a lot of shopping was done!
Lots of what I bought will be reviewed on here in the future so this is just a simple haul post!
First are the freebies! There would be more in this section but I had two bags stolen :(
We received this goodie bag from Arden Grange for qualifying for Crufts - that travel mug will definitely be useful for shows!
Absolutely love this goodie bag from Fetch.com! And the lady on the stand had dachshunds!
The James Wellbeloved goodie bag was my favourite! I give my daxi's Greenies daily so to get a whole pack for free was great!
Lastly are a couple of samples :)
Onto what I actually bought! Really pleased that I managed to get almost everything from my list!
I took advantage of the Lintbells show offer to stick up on my favourite necessities from Yumega, review will be next on the blog!
Dorwest had 12.5% off of the whole stand so I picked up some new bits to tr!
I grabbed one of the limited edition navy blue Ruff and Tumble drying coat for Isla as she's outgrown her old one.
As always I bought the Crufts show guide, I think these are really nice to keep :)
A new RuffWear harness for Severus
Before we where due to go in the ring, Isla chose some toys from the Nerf 4 for £10 bin - the fabric balls where a huge success with the pack!
I bought a super soft rolled collar and lead set for Sevy, these are really good quality and where quite cheap!
Some Equafleece essentials for Sev as he's outgrown his old blue one, one of these is a Dachie tankie for walks and a slim dog jumper with legs for show days to keep him clean and warm :)
Quite possibly my favourite purchases from yesterday! An matching lead, bow and coat from Teddy Maximus; I adore the Liberty print and it all fits perfectly! :)
And last but by no means least, lots of goodies from Dapper Pets! I'm so glad they've rereleased the daisy print and in my favourite colour; turquoise! I also picked up some of thier older sets which where on sale!

That's it for what I bought! I missed quite a bit as I got a migraine at 2pm is which messes with my vision :( but still happy with what I did get! :)
Look out for the upcoming reviews!
Thank you for reading,

Crufts 2016 - The Top 5 Wishlist!

If you've been following me on Twitter, you'll know there's no limit to what i'll spend on my dachshunds and i've already got one rather large list of things to buy so today i thought i'd write a post featuring my top 5 "Must Buys"!

1. Teddy Maximus Liberty Print fleecy dog coat - £52.00

I've been ogling these coats for ages and when I read they'd be at crufts I just knew I had to get one (or two!) I'm still torn between the fleecy liberty print coat and the Pink Shetland Wool Waxed coat for Lily; both are utterly gorgeous!
Not that she needs it, but depending on the width of the collars that are made to match, we may end up with the full set - oops?

2. Charley Chau Snuggle Bed - £70.00

Another of those things i've contemplated buying but never got round too, Lily is such a snuggler and these beds would be absolutely perfect - i'm trying to slowly wean her out of my bed at night! Can't decide between Raspberry or Dove Grey at the moment though!

3. Ruffwear Front Range Harness - £39.95

Some of you may remember that I have the Alpenglow Pink Front Range for Lily, as Sev's grown up he's become more and more attracted to mud to the point that his poor Puppia harness really has seen better days! Now he's finally stopped growing I think it's time he got a harness that can cope! I absolutely adore the Pacific Blue colour that they offer, a definite must buy!

4. All-Purpose Scissors by Abbfabb Grooming - £35.00

Another Sev related purchase, he won't enjoy this one as much as the previous one though, lol! Need a new pair of scissors for foot taming and these come with interchangeable glittery grips - need!

5. Last but by no means least; A whole lotta Red Dingo!

I've been really good and barely ordered anything for months in preparation for the upencoming blowout! Daisy and Lily need new collars and leads and Sevy has been wearing his current martingale collar for months, which is near on unheard of for one of my dogs!
Heres a few of my favourites:

Will post my usual Crufts haul afterwards, we will be on instagram @Fachshund :-)
