DogFest #TeamSouth

Myself and Lily where lucky enough to be invited to DogFest in Windsor last Saturday by the lovely Lisa and Sam of Guru Pet Food! We tested their food on our blog early this year, if you'd like to read that, click here! Guru is such a fab company who we where incredibly proud to be a part of the Guru Geeks! :)
Lily and I adored the Guru stand - Lily even claimed herself one of their seriously comfy leather chairs! We got to meet various instagram dogs whilst on the stand, Bruno the dachshund and his mums who i've not seen since Crufts! & the gorgeous Duke and his parents from Duke Loves Fergie (French Bulldogs are my absolute guilty pleasure, and Duke is such a gorgeous boy!).

We've had this blog for almost 3 years and have it was so nice to finally be able to meet some of these people we've been talking to for so long! Jacob & bruno the chocolate miniature smooth dachshunds from jacob_bruno_mini_dachshunds, Winny the Corgi (another serious dog crush - I was far too busy getting excited to try and take a photo!!).

I brought my canon with me but due to the unpredictable weather I ended up using my iPhone all day, we walked around the show ground and as predicted, did far too much shopping! From both old favourites and new! Separate posts will follow this one! :)
We popped along to the Royal Canin stand where Lily was weighed - the RC vets told me that she was perfect :) Every person that stopped to talk to Lily commented on how soft her coat was and lovely condition she was, which is a real compliment as I work so hard to keep both of mine looking perfect! :)

I had such a great time and am so thankful to have been invited to blog about the event for Guru, we had such an incredible time, regardless of the weather, thank god for pack-a-macs and Lily's waterproof Teddy Maximus coat!

Our 3 Favourite Rawhide Alternatives!

The internet is full of posts about the horrors of rawhide chews, so I set about to find the perfect alternative that both of the dachshunds actually enjoy (nylabones are ignored in this house!).
Two of our favourites are vegetable based whist the other is a fish chew, the dogs get so excited by all of these and cannot wait until it's chew time every evening!

Firstly we have SmartBones, the daxi's enjoy both the bones and the sticks, but i've included the dental mini chews for this review, these are 99% digestible making them safe for dogs tummies, are fortified with vitamins and minerals including ingredients to prevent bad breath. I feed these daily for the dachshunds' lunch, I'm very fussy about what the dogs eat in regards to fat content and these are perfect as they are 0.3%! They can be quite pricey so I always stock up when Pets at Home have them on offer! The mini pack of 24 bones is £9.99

Next up we have an old favourite, the Lily's Kitchen Truly Naturals Fish Skin chews, these are 100% air dried Icelandic Catfish skins, the dogs know when its fish skin time and get so, so excited! These are the longest lasting out of our three favourites and I keep them for special occasions! The only slight negative to these is the smell! But this seems to add to the appeal! These are £3.99 for a pack.

And lastly we have our absolute favourite; Whimzees! Myself and various other members of the Sausage Army where spending a fortune on buying these individually until I came across the Variety box on Viovet! This box contains 48 whimzees (Sticks, Crocodiles and Toothbrushes). The box is resealable and every evening I open it and let the sausages goose their own which they really like! The box of 48 retails at £14.71.

Hope this is helpful, thank you for reading!

Cuffleberry & Co - First impressions

We where lucky enough to be contacted by a new dog food company, Cuffleberry & Co very kindly contacted me asking if i'd be interested in trying some of their new gourmet wet food.
Cuffleberry & Co is born out of a rural English kitchen, they're made up from dog and cat owners that recognise and understand the special bond shared between pets and their owners who's dream was to create the best food that they could and by using only the best ingredients they've done it!

The most gorgeous hamper arrived on my desk last week so here is my first impressions!
Firstly, can we just take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous this is?! I adore the fact that it has come in a dinky hamper, totally plan on using this to go on a picnic with the dachs!
The packing on the food itself is also beautiful, the whole range comes in a variety of pastel colours each printed with the white silhouettes of various dog breeds (including a dachshund!)

We where sent 4 different flavours. Two of the 400g tins Venison and Duck in Gravy, Pork and Ham with Herbs. And two of the smaller 150g trays; White Fish and vegetables with Parsley and lastly Pork and Ham with Herbs.

We will write another post after the gang have tried the different flavours!
